Transplantations



Organ and tissue transplantation is regulated by law 3984/2011. The National Transplant Organization oversees all organ and tissue transplantions in Greece and collaborates with relevant authorities abroad.

Greece has ratified, but not incorporated to the national legislation, the Additional Protocol on Transplantation of Organs and Tissues of Human Origin to the Oviedo Convention.

Finally the EU Directive 2004/23 regulates the standards of quality and safety for the donation, procurement, testing, processing, preservation, storage and distribution of human tissues and cells and has to be incorporated to member states legislation till April 7, 2006.
