National Bioethics and Technoethics Commission of Greece proudly announces the publication of its OPINION on the applications of Artificial Intelligence in health in Greece. It is the first official Greek document which comprehensively addresses the specific issue of the impact of the development and use of AI applications in health. The subject is topical, insofar as, on the one hand, remarkable relevant research initiatives are being taken, and, on the other hand, more and more AI applications are being established in clinical practice. Having already appointed a High-Level Expert Group of AI for its continuous support in AI issues and having organized repeated hearings of scientists and representatives of stakeholders, the Greek Commission in this Opinion maps the ethical issues raised by the applications of AI, approaches them through a set of ethical and operational-procedural principles, and formulates valid and feasible proposals for the harmonious integration of the AI applications in the Greek healthcare provision system.
