Technoethics is a section of Applied Philosophy and a field of multidisciplinary study and research, mainly focusing on the relationship between technological progress and social values. It is derived from multiple areas of knowledge, from Science of Informatics, Science and Technology Studies and so from Applied Ethics and Philosophy, in order to deal with emerging issues relating to the ethical dimensions of technological systems and practices in the modern society. Technoethics’ tools are the philosophical and interdisciplinary reflection, the public dialogue and the regulation of the technological field by Law, while its main goal is the protection of human dignity, the co-forming of common principles in favor of the society and the natural environment. Abstract universal principles are not its limit, but it proceeds to practical applications for detecting and analyzing trends and scenarios of problem management in the future.
